Volvo – the Swedish multinational carmaker has finally launched the much-awaited premium SUV Volvo XC60 in India at Rs.55.90 lacs (Ex-Showroom). The current variant belongs to the second generation of this premium SUV, which was launched almost a decade back in 2008. This SUV comes only in one variant – ‘Inscription’, which itself is loaded with some of the best features in the segment.
The all-new Volvo XC60 is based on Volvo’s innovative Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) platform, which makes this car a tough competitor in the premium and luxury SUV segment. With its latest launch, Volvo is eyeing on the high-end SUV segment, which is currently leaded by Audi, BMW, Jaguar and Mercedes in India.
Volvo XC60 Design & Looks
When it comes to the exteriors and styling, the Volvo XC60 scores full marks in every segment. The overall design looks highly inspired from Volvo’s XC90, which is company’s flagship model. On the front, Volvo’s multi-slat chrome grille between LED headlamps looks bold and premium. The side profile looks muscular with bold shoulder line and prominent character lines. The roof-mounted spoiler and LED tail-lamps on the rear look good.
Volvo XC60 Interiors
This premium SUV draws its power from 1,969cc four-cylinder twin-turbocharged diesel engine that produces 233bhp of maximum power at 4000rpm and 480NM of peak torque at 1750-2250rpm. It is matted to an 8-speed Geartronic automatic transmission and offers 4WD for an ultimate sporty experience. The XC60 is also available with petrol engines, but there is no official word on their future launch in India. Currently, only 2.0L diesel engine variant has been launched.

Feature wise, the Volvo XC60 doesn’t look compromising at any cost. This premium SUV gets a 9-inch centre Sensus touch screen infotainment system with high-tech connectivity features. For driver assistance, this SUV gets blind-spot assist, semi-automatic parking, lane departure warning, 360-degree camera, and radar based safety features like adaptive cruise control.

2018 Audi Q5
Audi India is all-set to launch the new-gen Audi Q5 on 18th January 2018 in India. The new Q5 is based on the MLB-Evo platform, which makes this premium SUV lighter by 90kgs than the current generation model. According to Autoportal.com, the 2018 Audi Q5 will arrive with 2.0L TDI diesel and 2.0L TFSI turbo-petrol engine. The diesel engine can produce 190PS of maximum power and 380NM of peak torque. The petrol engine can churn 252PS of maximum power. Both these engine variants will be matted to a 7-speed S tronic automatic gearbox and Quattro permanent AWD system as a standard feature.
When compared with the Volvo XC6-, the exterior design, looks and styling of 2018 Audi Q5 steals the show. There is elegance, premiumness, boldness, and most importantly, the overall appearance makes the Audi Q5 much attractive than its rivals in the segment. It will be liked by SUV lovers of all ages. Feature wise, the 2018 Audi Q5 will get Matrix LED headlights and LED tail-lamps, both coupled with dynamic turn signals, 21-inch alloy wheels, 12.3-inch Audi virtual cockpit, MMI navigation plus with MMI touch with an 8.3-inch display, Bang & Olufsen sound system with 3D sound, Audi phone box wireless smartphone charger and a lot more.
The new-generation Audi Q5 is expected to priced between Rs.45 lacs – Rs. 50 lacs (Ex-Showroom) in India.
The 2017 BMW X3 sells in very good numbers in India. This premium SUV is being liked by top business owners and corporate officials in India. What makes SUV a tough player in the segment is its boldness and top-notch features. The new 2018 BMW X3 is expected to be launched sometime in the second quarter of 2018, where it promises to offer a tough time to Audi Q5 and the newly launched Volvo XC60.
The 2018 X3 will be 55kgs lighter than the current model. As mentioned earlier, the BMW X3 is known for its bold avatar which comes from its bold design. On the front, the big signature chrome ‘kidney’ grille by BMW enhances the looks of this SUV. The double-barrelled headlights look bold. The same boldness continues on the side profile and even on the rear. The all-new BMW X3 will be powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine that will produce 190hp of maximum power. And a petrol variant is also expected to be launched.
For your entertainment and connectivity requirements, the 2018 BMW X3 gets 12.3-inch all-digital instrument cluster, a heads-up display, and a 10.2-inch infotainment display that supports gesture control and voice recognition as well. Other than this, the X3 is going to have a long list of safety, comfort and convenient features added. It is expected to be priced between Rs.45 lacs – Rs. 50 lacs (Ex-Showroom) in India, which is quite similar to the upcoming 2018 Audi Q5.
